Amar Ujala Foundation has been continuously empowering acid victims by help in treatment, legal help as well as helping them in livelihood generation. Amar Ujala Foundation also started a special Acid Victim Empowerment Fund with initial help of Rs.500,000 in October 2014. The reach of AUF is not limited to only a few, but actually AUF has extended helps to victims even outside the circulation area of Amar Ujala.
• Recently a full-fledged surgery and post operative camp was organized at a private hospital in Haldwani (Uttarakhand). Central Hospital, one of the fully equipped private hospitals of Haldwani, hosted the camp by facilitating all operation facilities free of cost, from January 3-7, 2018. A committed and experienced team of Surgeons, Anesthetists, and Nurses from SIMS Chennai executed the operations of 23 patients from various locations of UP, Uttarakhand and Bihar. The patients were provided all medical services free of cost apart from reimbursement of their travel cost.
• Purchased an auto rikshaw for father of an acid victim in Bareilly, apart from extending financial help of more than Rs.32,000
• Provided more than Rs.100,000 till now, as financial help to various acid survivors across India.
• The reach of AUF is not limited to only a few, but actually AUF has extended helps to victims even outside the circulation area of Amar Ujala. So far in more than four years, AUF has been able to influence lives of more than 70 Acid Survivors in best possible way and count is going up by the day.
• On legal front, AUF has helped in fast pacing of ongoing investigations of Acid Survivors, Filing of fresh cases under section 326A/B and getting compensations from government. In a recent move, with Amar Ujala Foundation’s help and initiation, all Acid Survivors of Uttar Pradesh got their cases registered under section 326A/B, and received accreditation by Uttar Pradesh Laxmi Bai Mahila Samman Kosh.
• On medical front, AUF provides direct assistance to Acid Survivors by funding their surgeries, travel cost for treatment and providing them specialized burn medicines. They are being given free treatment at SGPGI, Lucknow under HOD Plastic and Burns Dr. Rajiv Agarwal. In addition, AUF has also been continuously supporting high-end eye surgeries at Sankar Netralaya Chennai. Till now, 3 patients have visited Sankar Netralaya, out of which one survivor named Deepmala, who had lost her eyes in acid attack, has now regained her vision.
• More than 150 acid survivors are now in direct contact with the Foundation, and foundation strives to provide possible help and support to them.
