Amar Ujala Foundation has started a pilot project in Haryana (Sangel Village, Mewat, Nuh district) for the production and distribution of Sanitary Napkins, in which 16 women’s are currently working. We covered 20 villages in Mewat. We aim to provide affordable sanitary pads for rural women and also empower them by facilitating hygienic and economical best practices. The sanitary napkins are made by the women of Pakhi Mahila Samooh. Pads are being produced from eco-friendly natural raw material. We hope to increase the standard of living of rural women by-
1) Providing an alternative means of self-reliance,
2) Facilitating a smooth cultural revolution and breaking societal taboo against public acknowledgment of using sanitary pads in villages.
